How do I book my tour or safari ?
Complete the reservation form and return it to us. We will then
confirm the services booked and send you an invoice for a non-refundable
deposit of 20% of the total tour cost. Once paid, your booking is
confirmed and accepted by us.
Final payment is due 40 days prior to departure. On receipt of your
full payment, we will send you your information portfolio including
vouchers, safari information, clothing lists, reading lists etc.
How can I pay ?
We accept direct electronic bank transfers or most major credit
cards as payment. Please note that if you are paying us by bank
transfer in foreign currency ( mainly for our Botswana Safaris ),
the rate of exchange may change from the time we send you your invoice
and your actual date of payment. In this case we reserve the right
to ask you for any additional costs incurred.
Can you book my international or local
airtickets ?
We can book any international or internal airflights for you.
International flights: Please be aware that prices change on a daily
basis and seats can only be kept for a maximum of 48 hours. Payment
therefore needs to be made by credit card to us upon acceptance
of our quotation. We charge a booking fee of R250 per international
airticket in addition to 4% on your total quotation to cover our
bank charges for your credit card payment.
Internal flights: There are a growing number of local airlines in
South Africa which offer“no frills” flights between
most of the countries major cities at very competitive rates. We
will require your credit card details to make these reservations
for you and charge a booking fee of R150 per domestic ticket.
What are your cancellation charges?
Cancellations are only effective on receipt of written notification.
If a booking is cancelled the cancellation fee is as follows:
- more than 40 days before departure 20% of total tour cost.
- 40 to 29 days before departure 40% of total tour cost
- 28 to 14 days before departure 60% of total tour cost.
- 13 to 0 days before departure 100% of total tour cost.
In the event of the cancellation of the tour by the company, the
full amount paid by the customer will be refunded.
How much baggage can I bring ?
For safety and because space is restricted on a tour vehicle, baggage
is restricted to one soft bag/medium sized suitcase per person (
max. 20 kg) plus 1 piece of hand luggage. If you are travelling
by small charter aircraft the restriction is maximum 12kg per person
in a soft bag. This includes camera equipment and carry-on baggage.
However, should the guest know in advance that the baggage will
exceed the limit, an extra seat can be booked for the bags on the
aircraft, at an additional cost.
What about passports and visas ?
The onus is upon you to ensure that passports and visas are valid
for the countries visited. Travel in Africa, our staff and agents
cannot be held liable for any visas, etc. not held by the guests,
nor the cost of visas.
I am concerned about malaria?
We advise you to consult your physician as to the use of malaria
prophylaxes prior to your departure as Botswana, Victoria Falls,
Mozambique and the northern regions of South Africa all fall into
medium-high risk malaria zones, depending on the time of year. Most
safari camps provide mosquito netting and repellents for your use.
For the latest advice we also suggest that you visit the web-site
of the British Airways Travel Clinic on www.travelclinic.co.za.
Are there any other health precautions
I need to know of prior to my safari?
Southern Africa is a relatively healthy place in which to live and
travel. Please do not go overboard with the information put out
by some of the disease control centres abroad. Many parts of Africa
do have problems with their water and with their foods. Southern
Africa, however, is generally a lot safer than the rest of Africa,
so please don't over~react to the detriment of your own enjoyment.
Be careful, but not overcautious. If in doubt, ask your guide or
us for advice.
Do I need travel insurance ?
It is a condition of booking, that the sole responsibility lies
with the guests to ensure that they carry the correct comprehensive
travel and medical insurance to cover themselves, as well as any
dependants/travelling companions for the duration of their trip
to Southern Africa. This insurance should include cover in respect
of, but not limited to, the following eventualities: cancellation
or curtailment of the safari, emergency evacuation expenses, medical
expenses, repatriation expenses, damage/theft/loss of personal baggage,
money and goods. Guests will be charged directly by the relevant
service providers for any emergency services they may require, and
may find themselves in a position unable to access such services
should they not be carrying the relevant insurance cover.
What do I need to pack for my safari?
A packing check list will be sent to you or your agent upon receipt
of your reservation with a copy of our pre-safari/tour information.
This will usually consist of about 5 pages of information on your
safari and the local conditions. The information pack contains essential
reading which will ensure that your safari goes a lot smoother and
will also list what to bring and not to bring.
