NAMIBIA |
 |
From the rich colors
of the Namib dunes to the white dust of the Etosha Pan, Namibia
is a vast land of natural wonders and wide open spaces, a
tapestry of bold landscapes and clear blue skies. Although
larger than Germany and Great Britain combined; the country
has one of the lowest population densities in the world, allowing
one to experience a true sense of wilderness where the quiet
calms the mind and the views soothe the soul........ |
LAND OF CONTRASTS
Namibia is known for its contrasting landscapes. The desolate
Namib Desert is said to be the oldest in the world, with its
high dunes and awe-inspiring sense of space. The central plateau,
with its rugged mountains, rising abruptly from the plains,
gives way to the majestic Fishriver Canyon in the south and
the Kalahari. In the north of the country with its incredible
wealth of wildlife and birdlife, landscapes range from the
vast open plains of the great Etosha Pan, to woodland savannah,
waterfalls and lush vegetation. Dinosaur footprints preserved
in sandstone, prehistoric rock art, the ancient fossil plant
Welwitschia mirabilis and the many endemic lithops "flowering
stone plants" all bare witness to the timelessness of
this country. Here you will find the last herds of desert
dwelling elephant and rhino roaming wild and free.
