Sept 2007: Spring flower tour
"Dear Travel in Africa, I just wish to take a moment and thank you ever so much for organising a wonderful holiday for our mom. Absolutely everything was perfect - from the time she arrived at Cape Town airport until she boarded the plane back to Jo'burg. Thank you for taking such good care of her and for your professionalism. Our mom had a wonderful time and this holiday made her 60th birthday her most memorable. I will certainly be in contact with you when we plan to travel in the Cape - it has been a pleasure dealing with you. Take care." - Heidi Lamberti, South Africa
Skeleton Coast & Himba 4 day fly-in safari

The Skeleton Coast Park is one of our planet's most inhospitable, but hauntingly beautiful places - it is wild, desolate and uninhabited. It has everything from roaring sand dunes, windswept plains, towering canyons and salt pans to seal colonies, shipwrecks and even one of the most productive fishing grounds anywhere. Fresh water springs permeate through barren sands to create rare oases in the desert which sustain pockets of wildlife. Springbok, Gemsbok (Oryx), the Desert Elephant, Ostrich, Jackal and Brown Hyena eke out an existence in this rugged terrain, along with vegetation like Welwitschia which has adapted to the harsh conditions. There are many regions in the Skeleton Coast. On this safari, we visit the most isolated, beautiful, remote (and private) northen sector of the park, from just north of Mowe Bay to just south of the Kunene River. This area has been set aside by the government for low volume, exclusive safaris.

This safari is unique. The area is so vast and there is so much to see and experience. The general daily program is to leave camp after breakfast and spend the full day exploring the park. A picnic lunch is enjoyed out in the wild and we return to base camp in the later afternoon. We travel in 4x4 Land Rovers and cover an extraordinary variety of terrain. All safaris visit remote Himba villages just outside the park for an incredible cultural experience.

Although this is a luxury safari the terrain is harsh, rough and rugged when in the 4x4 there is no possibility of hiding from elements. Sometimes you can experience cold temperatures - and then 400m up the valley, you encounter warm desert winds. This is not a safari for those without a spirit of adventure, but it will be enjoyed by those who are looking for a true wilderness experience in some of the most spectacular scenery in Southern Africa.

Departs from Windhoek every Wednesday with min. 2 persons.
