West Coast & Cederberg

The West Coast or "Rock Lobster" coast as it is often called, offers visitors a rich tapestry of natural beauty to discover. With the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean washing its shores, an abundance of seafood (particularly rock lobster!) and migratory water birds are found, intermingled together with traditional fishing villages, warm watered lagoons, small islands and wild beaches. Further inland a 200 km belt of sandstone mountains stretches from the Cederberg to the Bokkeveld, where fascinating rock formations and cultivated Rooibos tea farms share their home with historical San (Bushman) rockart paintings, dating back thousands of years.

WEST COAST & CEDERBERG ACCOMMODATION
Traditional South African hospitality coupled with friendly warm service is what characterizes the many small guest houses and private farms situated on the West Coast. The superb wilderness reserve of Bushmanskloof in the Cederberg offers a rare retreat to nature with world class spa, accommodation and expert guides. It also houses the world's largest open air rock art gallery. Please contact us for more details and further ideas for a tailor made tour in the Cederberg and West Coast.
West Coast National Park(self-catering)

Just inland from the secluded harbour of Saldanha Bay one finds the azure waters of the Langebaan Lagoon, focal point of the West Coast National Park. Thousands of seabirds roost on sheltered islands, pristine golden beaches stretch endlessly into the early morning mist and brooding salt marshes are home to vast concentrations of migrant waders from the northern hemisphere.
